The „Roots of the Future“ Solidarity Project is dedicated to bridging cultural and generational gaps, fostering mutual understanding, and empowering young people with immigrant backgrounds. Our primary focus is on second-generation Vietnamese youth in Czechia, providing them with a platform to enhance self-confidence, take responsibility, and actively participate in shaping a more inclusive society. Through a series of activities, we aim to deconstruct stereotypes, promote cultural appreciation, and strengthen solidarity within the community.

A key aspect of our project is creating spaces for sharing, coordination, and collaboration among young people from diaspora communities. By organizing social and intercultural events, we offer opportunities for individuals to share their heritage and personal experiences. These events present a fresh perspective on minority communities in Czechia by showcasing life stories, cultural traditions, and the contributions of immigrants to society. Through these exchanges, we encourage dialogue and engagement that fosters a sense of belonging and mutual respect.

History and solidarity are at the core of our initiative, guiding us in planning meaningful activities. One of our main approaches involves food and storytelling, as these play a significant role in cultural identity and social interaction. By organizing events with food, we create a welcoming environment where people can taste Vietnamese dishes, engage in conversations, and learn about our project’s values. This experience helps to break down prejudices, reduce racism, and highlight the importance of spending time together as a community. According to the Harvard University research “Map of Racism” conducted in 2017, Czechia has one of the highest levels of racism in Europe. By fostering intercultural exchanges in informal settings, we aim to address these issues and create positive change.

Storytelling and social media serve as powerful tools in our project to promote inclusion and challenge discrimination. Through creative content, we highlight personal narratives and positive immigrant experiences, emphasizing the benefits of hosting diverse communities. By amplifying voices that are often overlooked, we contribute to breaking stereotypes and fostering empathy. We encourage young people to express themselves, share their perspectives, and engage with the broader community, strengthening their resilience against future challenges.

The project also places a strong emphasis on education and peer learning. Through non-formal educational workshops, we create opportunities for young people to develop critical skills, increase their awareness of cultural diversity, and explore their own identities. By connecting different generations within the diaspora, we facilitate knowledge exchange and mentorship that enriches participants‘ personal and professional growth.

By combining cultural events, storytelling, and digital engagement, the „Roots of the Future“ project seeks to create long-lasting impact. We envision a society where immigrant communities are fully integrated, respected, and valued for their contributions. Through active participation, solidarity, and cultural appreciation, we aim to build a more inclusive future for all.
